Lunchwalking with Court

What the...?

There are so many other things I'd like to show you that I encounter during the course of the infamous Lunchwalks, but I'm prevented by a growing anti-image environment.

It's difficult to take pictures of interesting people in the streets anymore because they either flip out at the invasion of their (imaginary) privacy or they want you to pay them! Can't take pictures inside any of the museums I go into. I would have liked to have taken more pictures of the SF Symphony but it would have been disturbing to my fellow concert-goers.

Anyway, here are a few highlights from the past week.

Lots of interesting stuff his happening this week and the next so I'll be posting a lot more info soon.

Daughter Jasmyne has just been hired as a congressional aide to newly-elected Congresswoman Laura Richardson of the 37th district. She's heading for Washington, DC soon. (She's also about to turn 30!)

Daughter Jorjanna is receiving an award from the mayor of Las Vegas next month so Pops will definitely be reporting from Sin City on that.

My good friend Jon Chu and his wife, Paula, have successfully completed adopting their second son from China and have sent a load of pictures from the trip through the Chinese countryside and the reunion with relatives in mainland China.

And Angie and I are crawling up on anniversary number...15!
(It's been a long, strange trip, for sure!)

Last night I got to spend some time watching the Perseid meteor shower. The sky is so dark and the stars are breathtaking in Del Norte. That means a lot to a someone who's loved astronomy since he was a kid but grew up in the heavy light-pollution of L.A.

Plan on fielding a new reflector (telescope) in the Spring. I used to grind my own mirrors but these days that's a luxury. I'll probably be purchasing one.

Come up for a star party.

Sorry I haven't been blogging much of late. Most of the time I'm living in "Cittio Failover Land". I did get to go to the opening of a new exhibit at the SF Museum of Modern Art called "Under Our Noses". Saw some interesting work, particularly a photographic piece by Norah Alcala. I couldn't take pictures unfortunately. You'll have to visit the museum yourself.

I came home this weekend specifically to do some work around the house, though I confess I haven't gotten much done. Tonight, Angie and I went for take-out at C.C.'s diner and ate dinner with some of our neighbors...

Louis Fleming, Sr.

Very sad news. ..

My buddy Dave's dad, Louis Fleming, Sr., passed away Friday night from pancreatic cancer. I've already written about him here, so the highest praise I can give is to say that I will never forget him. My deepest condolences to all the Fleming family.
